Respite Care

After hearing the stories of members of their congregations, leaders from the CASA & St. Patrick’s championed our work to help families that struggle to provide long-term care for their elderly or ill loved ones. ┬áVIP worked with Governor Napolitano to create ┬áCitizen’s Work Group on Long-Term Care, and a curriculum and pilot project to train Long-Term Care workers in their profession.

Not stopping there, VIP leaders worked with State Senator Carolyn Allen to pass the2007 Lifespan Respite Care Act, providing $500,000 in state funds and a federal matching grant for respite care for families caring for ill loved ones at home.

In 2011, VIP leaders successfully advocated with AHCCCS to limit budget cuts to Respite Care.
